To block my quilts for the upcoming show, I borrow (OK, I steal) my husband's heavy metal bent ruler. I lay the ruler next to the inmost border first, pull the wet quilt so it's perfectly straight, then pin it to the floor with straight pins. After the inner borderline is done, I do the next border, and the next, and last the edge. I push the pins straight in to the carpet. Some places need a pin every half inch, other places don't need much pinning. Now my quilts are drying, perfectly squared, with pins stuck all over them. Tomorrow I'll put all those pins back in the pin cushions, and spread my quilts over the quilt rack so they don't get wrinkled before the show.
