Garden Favorites

These Strawberry Fields gomphrena flowers are amazing.  I bought one package of seeds 10 years ago, and every year they have re-seeded all over the flower bed.  This year, some came up in the grass near the flowerbed.  The grass is brown because of the drought, but the flowers are blooming and thriving.  They survive heat and drought, and brighten up the place with their red color.  For my son's wedding reception, I cut several bouquets of these flowers and put them in small white vases.  They last a long time as cut flowers, and they can be dried also, but their color fades.  Maybe next year I'll plant some purple ones . . . or white ones . . .
